Free Haircuts to Residents of the DTES

November 26, 2020
News

Fostering resilience in the next generation and helping change the stigma surrounding the DTES, one haircut at a time.

An organization in the Downtown Eastside called 2 Paycheques Away provides haircuts and personal grooming for residents of the downtown eastside (children included) and to assist people in “facing their prejudices and breaking down barriers between Vancouverites and downtown eastsiders”.  They are located at Water St. and Abbott St.

Recently, 2 Paycheques Away provided our Developing the Gifts of our Children fund $2,000.00  for the betterment of our kids. Through participation in extracurricular activities like music, dance, arts and sports, self-identity and leadership skills are built. VACFSS acknowledges a responsibility to help our children and youth participate in such extracurricular activities. Costs associated with these activities are not covered by core funding. VACFSS has established the Gifts of our Children Fund to support children and youth in our care to develop their inherent talents, gifts and interests without financial barrier.

Please spread the word for their good services.

Thank you for all that you do,  2 Paycheques Away!
