The events being organized under Reconciliation Canada’s mandate include:

  • Community engagement, comprising a series of dialogue workshops in communities throughout BC that have been touched by the residential school experience, in the nine months leading up to the September 2013 events;
  • A Canoe Gathering on Tuesday, September 17 from Kits Point to the Olympic Village along False Creek, to highlight traditional ceremonies and welcome all Nations to Coast Salish lands;
  • “A New Way Forward Event” BC Place Event on Saturday, September 21, is an inspirational event that transforms BC Place into a Ceremonial House featuring multicultural celebrations of song and dance, well-known speakers and Canadian performers.
  • A Walk for Reconciliation on Sunday, September 22 that will bring people from all of Canada’s many cultures together in a mass walk, to support a shared commitment to reconciliation.
