On October 3, 2018, VACFSS and the Vancouver/Richmond Service Delivery Area (VRSDA) of the Ministry of Children and Family Development signed a new Protocol Agreement which commits the parties to working in partnership. VACFSS Chief Executive Officer, Bernadette Spence, and VRSDA Executive Director, Sheila Robinson signed the Protocol which is intended to ensure coordination of services, continuity of care for children, collaborative service delivery, and mutual support in operational and policy matters.

The signing of the Protocol also supports the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action which specifically calls for joint commitment to reduce the number of Aboriginal children in care, by providing adequate resources to keep Aboriginal families together, to keep children in culturally appropriate safe environments, to resolve jurisdictional disputes and to develop culturally appropriate parenting programs for Aboriginal families.

We look forward to continuing and strengthening our partnership!
