On July 27th 2013, our Culturally Relevant Urban Wellness Program had our first Open House. The Culturally Relevant Urban Wellness (CRUW) program provides youth ages 12-15 with the opportunity to engage in 16 sessions in the IAH’s Teaching and Research Garden at the UBC farm.  Sessions occur every second Saturday from late March to late October, annually.

At the last session, we invited organizations to come and be an honourary CRUW participant for the day. Guests were welcomed to participate in all three program blocks: gardening, story time led by the CRUW youth mentors, and sage bundle making with elders.

We would like to thank the Coast Salish peoples who welcomed us into their territory and have allowed us to use their land to do this good work. We also would like to thank everybody who came to the Open House.
